HERS Certification Training Class

Michigan Energy Options will be holding an upcoming HERS certification class at a date to be announced. The training will be held in East Lansing, Michigan at the offices of Michigan Energy Options. Adena Energy and Environmental Consulting, an accredited Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) Training and Rating Provider, will lead the training.

Prior Experience/Skills Required

While there are no prerequisites for this training, it is helpful to know and have the following:

• 
  Knowledge of how heat, moisture, and air flows within buildings
  Knowledge of general building materials, terms, and practices
  Diagnostic & troubleshooting skills related to home heating, cooling and air quality problems
  Mathematical, analytical, calculation, and drawing skills 
  A working reliable computer with internet, E-mail access and software skills
  A commitment to the training and meeting post classroom requirements for rater accreditation
  A commitment to purchasing the basic tools (including performance testing and verification equipment)

Online: 2-4 weeks, flex. scheduling
Classroom: 4 days

Course Structure:

An online component that consists of 2-4 weeks of self-paced training complete with practice testing to help learn requisite skills will precede a four day classroom training. The final day of the classroom training will be set aside to take the RESNET exam.

Cost / Equipment:

Training fees include all course material and interim access to the REM/Rate software. Participants must bring their own laptop to the classroom. Meals are not included.

HERS Training: $1400
RESNET Exam: $50

Lodging / Accomodations:
