We are thrilled to announce that the East Lansing Community Solar Park, Mid-Michigan’s first community solar park, has been awarded the 2019 Project of the Year at the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council‘s 7th Annual Michigan Energy Innovators Gala.
MEO is the first Michigan non-utility nonprofit to develop, finance, own, and operate a major solar installation in the state. Our partnership with the Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL), City of East Lansing, and Pivot Energy has been instrumental in bringing this community solar project to life.
Located at Burcham Park, the solar park comprises 1,000 345-watt solar panels that BWL customers can lease for 25 years. Over the project’s lifetime, it is expected to generate more than 10.9 million kilowatt-hours of clean, renewable energy. This achievement is a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to advancing clean energy solutions in Michigan.
The East Lansing Community Solar Park is one of only a handful of community solar projects that have been successfully developed in Michigan. As a member of the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council, we have had the privilege of working alongside some of the industry’s most innovative and forward-thinking leaders. We are humbled and grateful for the recognition of our work by our peers in the Michigan clean energy sector.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions that benefit communities and the environment. This award inspires us to continue pursuing innovative approaches to clean energy that are accessible, affordable, and environmentally sound. We thank the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council and all of our partners for their support, and we look forward to continuing to lead the way in clean energy development in Michigan.
